Whether you spend your time on the island relaxing or kayaking to hidden waterfalls, there will always be a need for a solid refueling. Kauai has an incredible food scene, so here are my top places on the island to help you narrow down your choices.

Bangkok Happy Bowl
If you’re a huge pad Thai fan like myself, Bangkok Happy Bowl is a great spot on the island to feed your craving. The cute, colorful atmosphere perfectly compliments the delicious food. The menu adjusts with the seasons to ensure you are always receiving the freshest ingredients. Grab a Thai Tea (quite possibly my favorite drink in the entire world) and enjoy!
Pooka Dog
A gigantic hot dog and a gigantic bun topped with fruit. Although it may not sound appealing, I guarantee you that you will be craving it for weeks after (I still am!). I ordered the banana topping and was not even close to disappointed. This surprising combination from a little stand is recommended by locals all over the island. I guarantee you will not find another place like it.

If you want a classy spot by the water, Duke’s is your place. Their Sauteed Mac Nut & Herb Crusted fresh fish is quite possibly one of the most satisfying seafood meals of my life. Be sure to add on the $3 salad bar for unlimited quantity of every type of salad you can imagine. There is also the Barefoot Bar in the sand downstairs where you can order pupus (Hawaiian appetizers) and sip on a Mai Tai while enjoying the ocean breeze.
Tip: if you’re a cat lover, there are multiple friendly kitties around the hotel waiting to be pet!
Wahoo Seafood Bar and Grill
Grab some strawberry daiquiris and head out to the patio at Wahoo Seafood Bar and Grill. Situated next to a forest of palm trees, this chic restaurant provides some of the tastiest Pacific inspired food on the island. Wahoo’s dishes are made with local ingredients and provide unique combinations. My favorites? The Fresh Ahi Burger and the Vegetable Flatbread.
Chicken In A Barrel
Before taking a bike ride along the Kapaa coast, grab a Pulled Pork Hoagie smothered in pepper jack, provolone, and grilled onions with side of Macaroni Salad at Chicken In A Barrel and embrace real Hawaiian BBQ. Outdoor picnic table seating and wandering live chickens make for the perfect atmosphere to chow down on BBQ and enjoy the Kauai sunshine.

Where are your favorite places to eat while on Kauai? I’d love some suggestions on the north side!
